PENERAPAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN PENELITIAN SOSIAL DALAM MATA KULIAH KEWARGANEGARAAN

The Application of Teaching Model of Social Research in Ciivics Education at Economic Faculty in Bengkulu University

The objectives this study is to examine the effectiveness of teaching model of social research in civics education. The process of testing this model was applied by using classroom action research. The subjects of the study were 51 students of Accounting Department in Economic Faculty. 29 students of Library Department in Social Science and Politics Faculty. and 31 students of Language and Literature at Faculty of Education and Teachers Training, Bengkulu University. The result showed that ( l ) the motivation of learning was high, it was indicated by seeing the attendance of students (≤ 100%): (2) the motivation of doing the tasks assigned was also high; (3) there was a good tendency to solve the problem given; (4) the capability to express their thought in discussion was significantly improved; (5) students' capability in seeing the problem was significantly improved, and (6) students capability in analyzing the problem was also increased. Based on the findings above, it was recommended to develop and vary the learning activity by using social learning study method especially in aspects that could improve creativity and competency.

Local-Based Material Development of Environmental Education

The impact of “environmental education” implementation was not achieve the good target yet. One of causal factor was the material and method of environmental education which are not aplicative, less contributed to environmental matter at local respective. This could be an indication of environmental education arrangement that more theoretical than the praxis one. Therefore, the study of learning strategy, learning experience for students, and teaching material was necessary in order to get the more effective learning model. Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan (KTSP) coming into force in 2008 and the autonomy era nowadays giving the wider opportunity to develop local-based environmental education material answered to local needs. Working from this point, the research intent to develop local-based environmental education material at Rejang local custom for improving the quality leraning and learning achievement. The two years research and development was to design the research. The activities in year one was: (1) the analysis of competencies in the curriculum; (2) need analysis of teaching material answered to local condition; (3) fused the (1) and (2); (4) composed the material writing guidance, and (5) composed the draft of local-based environmental education material. The next year (the year two) will conduct the testing and revising the material. The subject of the research was teacher and Rejang community at Kepahyang district and Rejang Lebong district as intelectual resources which selected at random. The result of the research showed that (1) the scope of environmental education material at elementary school were natural environment, social and cultural environment, and social economic environment. The material integrated in Social Sciences at elementary school, (2) local-based environmental education material needed most in Rejang Lebong district. The research provide an explanation of that the teacher acceded to the material almost 100%, and (3) the material resources was the fact and social phenomenon which is familiar with the students. The all items of the result mentioned applicable to writing of local-based environmental education material.
